The Via Stoica interview

I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Benny and Brendan from Via Stoica– a nascent online Stoicism community and counseling service– for a conversation that I think was particularly insightful. In addition to the usual banter about life aboard a submarine, we got into the connections between Stoicism and military culture, particularly self-control, mental fortitude, and a focus on what lies within our control. We also went deep into military obedience and just war theory.

Before closing out, we touched upon the connections between Stoicism and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), specifically how both frameworks provide practical tools to manage emotions and reframe challenges. Benny and Brendan were particularly skillful interviewers and they have a great editing team, and I look forward to talking with them again.
