The Stockdale Interview

The ideal leader is, always and everywhere, an ideal person. Leaders demonstrate what “right” looks like. Whether you are a chief, an officer, or simply a mom or a dad, those who look up to you will take on aspects of your personality and behavior, like it or not. What qualities are you transmitting?

CIMSEC’s Brian Kerg and I discuss this in the context of James Stockdale’s heroic leadership, as described in my previous article. This is one of those “movie is better than the book” situations and is probably my favorite interview to date.
