At the Hall of Heroes

Yesterday I was privileged to meet– for the first time in person– Dr. Jim Stockdale II, who graciously wrote the foreword to my book last year. Jim and I have exchanged much correspondence over the past year and have spoken more than a few times, to the point that I feel safe calling him a friend. Still, it was great to finally meet him in person.

Jim was in town to represent his family at the annual ceremony for the Stockdale Award for Inspirational Leadership, which occurred yesterday at the Pentagon Hall of Heroes for two amazing naval leaders.

Also with us my office-mate Brandon. In addition to being uncontested in T-1000 look-alike contests (in-person the resemblance is uncanny), he also is a former CO of the USS STOCKDALE, and through this connection he introduced me to Jim.

Any Pentagon tour has its drawbacks, but it also presents some wild opportunities.
